I am passionate about wild herbs because it is hard to ignore all their benefits for our wellbeing so I use them a lot in my cooking and I make beautiful loose leaf tea blends which I would love to share with you.
This one has the mild punginess of the hibiscus flowers, the beautiful aroma of the mint and slight sweetness from the liquorice root. I have not seen it anywhere as a combination so I take a lot of pride from this creation. It complements all of our rich in fibre dishes. You can enjoy it during or after a meal to aid your digestion and balance your blood sugar.
Instructions:
All you need is a soup spoon of the blend to make a cup of tea and jar makes at least 15 cups. You simply put the blend in your cup, top up with hot water that is not completely boiled (Just pause the kettle before it starts bubbling) and cover with a saucer for 5-7' until you see the majority of the leaves gone at the bottom of the cup. You can either sieve it or drink it as it.
No bleached paper or plastic tea bags.
Benefits:
Hibiscus offers benefits such as lowering blood pressure, providing antioxidants, and supporting skin and digestive health. It contains compounds like anthocyanins and flavonoids that can help reduce blood pressure, fight inflammation, and protect cells from damage by free radicals. Additionally, its natural acids may aid skin cell turnover, while its fiber content supports a healthy gut.
Mint tea benefits digestion, alleviates headaches and congestion, boosts the immune system, and helps with stress and sleep. Its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, particularly from menthol in peppermint, contribute to these effects by relaxing muscles in the digestive tract and clearing airways.
Liquorice root has several benefits, including soothing digestive issues, promoting skin health, and supporting respiratory function. It is used to treat heartburn, indigestion, and stomach ulcers by protecting the stomach lining and can help with skin conditions like eczema due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Additionally, it can aid in expelling phlegm from the throat and is a traditional remedy for coughs and sore throats.
